Turkey Burger Creation

Now usually if I'm going to make a burger, in this case a turkey burger, it is just the meat. This time Dallin made the burgers and kind of went a little spice crazy. But it was a GOOD crazy. I guess you can say he made this "recipe" up. Whatever it is, we will be using again. Now we only made 2 pattys, so the amount would go up depending how many burgers you are making. I do suggest this to try. It turned a plain turkey burger into something that was quite scrumptious!

>1 tspn garlic powder
>1 tspn chili powder
>1 tspn paprika
>pinch of salt
>BBQ sauce

Mix it all together except the BBQ. Make your patty's and then smother them in BBQ before your grill your burgers. Delicious!! I was quite proud of Dallin for creating this. Or least stepping out of his comfort zone to randomly sprinkle spices on the meat.

A baked potato and some corn as well! Yummy!

Sweet Southern Pearls

I can't tell you how much I love t-shirts! I basically collect them. Anytime I go to a cool restaurant or a cool store I have to have one! So thanks to WhoopTee I was able to design my own t-shirt!

Now I'm not sure if you have heard the song Carolina Girls, but this is where my inspiration came from. I wanted to make a t-shirt that hit home and literally this one does!

WhoopTee is very easy to use and you can honestly make whatever sort of t-shirt you want. I know I just did a giveaway this past week, but now it's time for another one! Now I know North Carolina may not be home to a lot of you, but everyone should love getting a free t-shirt! And I know there are some of you who call NC home :) WhoopTee is letting me give away 3 of these t-shirts! If you would like one just leave a comment on this post and this will go until next Friday, March 8th!

Don't forget to check out their facebook page and their twitter!

Oscars 2013

I cannot tell you how excited I was for the Oscars! A night where Hollywood's elite come together to honor films made that past year and of course come looking fabulous head to toe on the red carpet. The biggest night of the year for the film industry! First off Seth MacFarlane was a great host. The jokes were hilarious. The music was amazing. Music gives me life. The fact that it was themed honoring music in films was really incredible. Les Miserables' performance gave me goosebumps. Ben Affleck's speech was the best out of the whole night. All around I just really LOVED the Oscars.

My best dressed of the night...

Charlize Theron looked stunning and so sleek
in that all white dress. Her hair as well, which
 she really pulled off.

Jennifer Lawrence was absolutely gorgeous! Love her

Jessica Chastain looked so pretty! Some celebs just overdo it,
but she looked to elegant.

Octavia Spencer really wore a dress to fit her body
type. She pulled it off so well.

This dress is not my favorite, but I thought Amanda Seyfried
looked really good. The design on this dress is very stunning.

So until next year Oscars!

Tomorrow is the last day to enter the $50 giveaway! Go here to check it out!

Make Yourself Happy

Ever have those days where you're just so mad at the world? Or maybe a day where you feel so down about a lot of things? I've had quite a few of those days. Especially after moving out here to Utah. I left my family, I left my friends, I left my job. I would wake up sad and I would fall asleep sad. Honestly I felt so alone, even though I wasn't alone at all.

I've figured out some things that have helped me with keeping myself happy on a
day where I really just wasn't that happy.

1. Start my day early. I'm so not a morning person, but I've realized that when I get up early and start being productive, it really gets my day off to a good start. Make myself some tea, eat some breakfast, and maybe curl my hair :) I'm able to get more done during the day which leaves more free time (me time) to do what I enjoy.

2. Make a meal. Baking/cooking makes me happy. I get excited over meals! When I plan a delicious dinner I feel all warm inside..I know, strange. There's just something about making a homemade meal that puts a smile on my face. Possibly the fact that I actually made it so it's fun to gloat about it to myself. I put some Celine Dion on and just cook away.

3. Pamper. I mentioned in #1 about curling my hair. I tend to feel uplifted when my hair is curled. I feel dainty when I paint my nails. I feel unstoppable when I wear my favorite outfit. For me, when it's a bad day pampering myself is one of the last things I want to do. Usually it is worth the effort :)

4. Plan. It's similar to when I was in high school. You look forward to the breaks, it makes the days with tests seem more bearable. I look forward to trips and fun date nights that are ahead. For instance, this past Christmas, when work days were busy I just thought to myself...only 1 more month until I get to go home! It would get me almost giddy during the days, knowing that I was so close to going home. It can also be as simple as planning a fun craft. Finding something on Pinterest and realizing, hey! I can actually make that tends to be quite the excitement.

5. Serving others. My whole life I've been taught that serving others is serving God. Many leaders in my church have talked about how important service is for others. I get happy when I see that others are happy. Sometimes when we are helping someone else we are really helping ourselves.

They may seem like silly things, but they work for me. Nobody wants a bad day, but a lot of times we just can't help it. Lets stay optimistic friends!!

Would a $50 VISA make you happy?? Check out the giveaway! Ends this Tuesday.

I'm a salsa fanatic! When I'm at a Mexican restaurant...keep em coming! This recipe is actually from Dallin's mom. She never follows a recipe actually! When I asked her for one she said she just puts it all together. She is just that awesome. This is what she came up with and it is seriously one of the best salsa recipes I've had.

>32-48oz canned tomatoes
>3/4 cup chopped onion, chopped
>1 large green pepper, chopped
>1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped
>1/3-1 jalapeno (depending on how hot you like it)
>1 tbsn garlic poweder
>1 tbsn sugar
>1/2 tbsn salt

Now if you like chunky salsa then you can just mix everything together. I don't mind chunky salsa, but with this, I just put everything in a blender! Keep in the refrigerator for a little bit then it is done!

Don't forget about the $50 VISA giveaway!! It ends February 26th!

Weekend Recap

Sometimes I like being busy, but sometimes it can be too much and I feel as though I don't enjoy everything as much because I'm doing too much? Make sense? I really did enjoy this weekend.

Lets go in order shall we?

I came home from work Thursday (Valentine's Day) to my favorite flowers, chocolate covered strawberries, and very sweet hand written letter. I love letters from D, he always writes the sweetest ones.

D had to work Thursday night and I got to spend the evening with Lizzy. We then surprised him when he got home! With some man gel, peanut butter cups, 007, a shirt, just some good stuff. We hid out in the bathroom until he showed up.

Friday night D took me to La Jolla Groves. De-li-cious! Seriously so good. The restaurant itself was beautiful. I'm not one for fancy restaurants, but this was a lot of fun and again SO GOOD! I got the medallions which were in a mango teriyaki sauce. I don't eat a lot of red meat, but this was definitely worth it. We ate underneath lemon trees! How appropriate for some Spring dreaming! After we went and got ourselves some macarons from Le Petit Macaron. The whole night was full of good food :)

After stuffing our faces he took me to see Safe Haven. Loved it. I love anything Nicholas Sparks'. It got me a little homesick because it is about 30 minutes from my hometown. My grandpa used to captain the ferry that is in this movie! It was neat to recognize everything in the movie.

Spring Dreamin'

Saw these pants on the bottom of of the "pants pile" and realized how I forgot I even had these! My green pants! I bought these from Express last Spring, so when I came across them Spring fever hit me. How I'm oh so ready for warm weather, bright colors, and the blooming of flowers. This outfit isn't necessarily "Springy", but the pants are and they will now be put on top of the pile.
Just begging for Spring to arrive sooner than later.

Ignore the wind in my un-brushed air ;)

A little green on green.

 Super obsessed with this necklace!

 46 days until SPRING!

Sunflowers are such pretty flowers! This past weekend we celebrated Dallin's mothers' 50th birthday! Sunflowers are her favorite so why not make her a sunflower cake! Baking is such a stress reliever for me. Even though...I have made cakes that make me stressed out, I just enjoy it so much! Yay for kitchen-aids and their help in the kitchen!!

I even had some good help! Isn't she just the cutest little one ever?!

Carry Me Away

This past weekend was just CRAZY! Very busy that is. D's family came down and we had a lot planned with them. I'm on the activities committee at our church and we had a Valentine's Dinner Saturday night which I didn't even take a single picture! That's how busy were decorating and setting up! D's mom turns 50 this weekend so we celebrated that as well! Then his brother and sister were in the halftime show of the BYU game. It was just full of fun!

I'm also excited to announce the winner of the giveaway...Nikki from Bedazzles After Dark!! How fun! My first giveaway, I was so excited haha.
